PWP’s John “JCD” Dimiceli returns to talk about 10 immediate NXT call ups that could help the very thin WWE main roster.
With 2015 coming to a close, it’s time to look forward to 2016. WWE is definitely in a tail spin right now and needs something to spice up the product. Well that’s where I come in, as I believe there are 10 NXT talents that could help the product and assist the WWE’s thinning main roster.
They don’t bring new signees to the main roster anymore unless you’re a recognizable name, so with everyone headed to NXT, let’s look at 10 Current NXT stars that could bring a positive boost to the main roster.
10. Emma
Emma had a cup of coffee on the main roster in 2014, however between bad booking with Santino Marella and a shoplifting bust, she never really got going. She is a great in-ring talent who could be a nice addition to the revamped divas roster. Also, while back down in NXT, she has developed a great heel persona alongside Dana Brooke and has been a really bright light in a gloomy NXT women’s division.
9. Corey Graves
Graves is a fantastic announcer. He could give a fresh, young, heel perspective to the show that has been missing since Jerry Lawler and JBL turned into neutral commentators. Graves has been improving every single time I hear him and I believe it would be an interesting idea to throw him into the deep end on RAW or SmackDown and see if he can swim.
8. William Regal
If they ever decided to tone down or end he Authority gimmick with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, William Regal would be a great choice to reprise his role as a GM or commissioner on the main roster. He could definitely provide balance and legitimacy to the role. On NXT, Regal is never the center of attention and always enhances segments when he’s involved.
7. Enzo Amore, Colin Cassady & Carmella
This wildly popular group would be a fun addition to the roster and tag team division on the main roster. They have a gimmick that gets over with the fans and gets them involved, which is something WWE needs desperately. Also, getting to look at Carmella, who’s incredibly hot, doesn’t hurt either.
6. Baron Corbin
With his size, Baron Corbin could be a loner monster heel that the company is desperately missing right now. Someone like Corbin could easily enter the WWE main roster scene and dominate with no issues at all and he’d also be a great threat to a smaller face champion. Corbin has improved in the ring and has embraced the NXT faithful rooting against him. His arrogant persona is another factor that works in his favor. Corbin is someone that has gone from a piece of coal and has been squeezed into a diamond.
5. Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder
Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder, the current NXT Tag Team Champions, are one of the few left in the business that are true throwbacks. Comparing them to a modern day Brain Busters is an amazing compliment. They could come up to the main roster and cut through the tag team division with no problem at all. The only thing missing from this group is a mouth piece manager that could make them into the perfect package on the main roster.
If Ric Flair was ever going to have a TV role as a manager, these guys would be perfect in a Flair led stable.
4. Sami Zayn
As we saw on a recent episode of NXT, Sami Zayn is on his way back home after recovery from several injuries (I could see his comeback take place at NXT Takeover: London, but back to the point). Even though he’s making his big return, I don’t expect him to stay in Full Sail for much longer. A logical step for Zayn would be for him to seek revenge on Kevin Owens for putting him on the shelf and out of action.
Keep a look out for Zayn to be the first on this list to be called up to the main roster. Maybe the Royal Rumble to screw Kevin Owens out of winning? We’ll see.
3. Bayley
Bayley, the fourth Horsewoman and final member to be in NXT, will fit in just fine with the Divas on the main roster. Other than WWE creative royally screwing her, there is no way Bayley can fail on the main roster. The underdog role fits her perfectly and she is one of WWE’s best in-ring workers.
2. Finn Balor
Finn Balor, the current NXT Champion, still has a lot to do in NXT, but it seems like it’s just a matter of time until he makes the jump to the big leagues. Having the entrance and presentation will certainly help him get over with the fans on the main roster and Vince McMahon and company will dig it too, for obvious reasons. Can you imagine a WrestleMania entrance for him? Well, maybe you won’t have to soon enough.
1. Jason Jordan & Chad Gable
Oh, this team is MONEY! Jason Jordan and Chad Gable are outstanding talents and have bright futures in WWE. Imagine if Kurt Angle was to return to the company and lead these guys? They are talented, athletic and both guys have a great look. These guys are bound for NXT Tag Team gold, but I’m confident that these two guys, as a unit, could be a fantastic addition to the WWE main roster.
