PWP Nation’s Caden Moran details five things we learned from the February 12th, 2019 edition of Smackdown Live
The February 12th edition of Smackdown Live is in the books, and it was incredible.
Smackdown Live is just on another level compared to RAW in terms of entertainment. We saw Charlotte Flair continue to irk the fans, The Usos continue to prove why they are the very best in the land, and an amazing gauntlet match saw the making of someone who should have been made a long time ago.
It was an electric episode of Smackdown Live, and here are five things we learned from it.
#5 – The IIconics Could Make History
I have been very hard on Smackdown Live’s women’s tag team division over the last few weeks, but there is at least one jewel: The IIconics.
I fully expect a tag team from RAW to claim the Women’s Tag Team titles this Sunday at Elimination Chamber, but the duo of Peyton Royce & Billie Kay could make history. The IIconics are easily one of the best acts not just on Smackdown Live, but WWE as a whole. They may not get as much time as they should, but they make the most of the time they are given.
The IIconics are the only team on Smackdown Live that is a true tag team. Due to that fact, we could potentially see, in my eyes, a shock this Sunday with The IIconics claiming the gold.
#4 – The Usos Are Still WWE’s Best Tag Team
I have been saying this for almost two years now, and I will continue to stand by it. The Usos are the best tag team in WWE.
The Usos have managed to keep themselves interesting ever since the Summer of 2016. They are fun, talented, can cut mean promos, and overall, they are just the best. We can argue that The Revival holds this title of being the “best tag team in WWE”, but in my opinion, and from what we saw last night. The Usos are still the best.
I expect The Usos to continue to add to their legacy, and we could very well see them become six-time WWE Tag Team Champions this Sunday.
#3 – Asuka is Not Important, Apparently
Do not let the heading fool you. Asuka is an important part of Smackdown Live to us. However, considering there has been no mention of her, outside of a vignette, since the Royal Rumble event, it is apparent that Asuka is not an essential part of the brand. At least not right now.
All the focus has gone to Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair over the last few weeks, and Asuka has just been an afterthought. Considering she is the Smackdown Live Women’s Champion, that speaks wonders.
Asuka does not have a match this Sunday and there is no plan for what she will be doing at Wrestlemania. Hopefully, they figure it out soon.
#2 – Charlotte Flair is Here For a Reason
There is a reason why Charlotte Flair “replaced” Becky Lynch for the Wrestlemania main event. Her promo last night showed exactly that.
Charlotte is a natural heel, and considering how much the fans do not want her involved in the match in April, the reaction she generates proves exactly why she should be in it. Flair can draw instant heat, and she knows the grind the gears of the WWE Universe, both live and on social media.
Charlotte is a very important part of this story involving Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey. Whether or not you want to accept it, Charlotte Flair being involved in this match is very important.
#1 – Kofi Kingston Deserves a One-on-One Opportunity
This episode of Smackdown Live was Kofi Kingston‘s episode of Smackdown Live.
Kofi Kingston replaced an injured Mustafa Ali in the gauntlet match, and for the Elimination Chamber match this Sunday, and he continues to prove that he deserves something more. For eleven years, Kofi has been working very hard every night, and last night, he ran the gauntlet for an hour long. Defeating not only Samoa Joe and Jeff Hardy, but he also defeated the WWE Champion, Daniel Bryan. Win or lose this Sunday, Kingston deserves a one-on-one WWE title match.
Not only does he deserve a match for the title, but he deserves a true reign with it as well. Even if it would be a “transitional” championship reign, Kofi Kingston deserves to have his name in the WWE Championship record books.
Smackdown Live was tons of fun this week, and it continues to get better.
