PWP Nation’s Caden Moran details five things we learned from the February 26th, 2019 edition of Smackdown Live
The Road to Wrestlemania just keeps getting better and better.
The February 26th edition of Smackdown Live is in the books and it was a very fun episode overall. We saw a returning superstar to take on Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship, while we also saw rivalries continue and the tag-team division being shaken up.
It was a very solid episode of Smackdown Live, and here are five things we learned from it last night.
#5 – Black vs Nakamura is a Feud That Needs to Happen
Last night we saw Aleister Black and Ricochet team up one again to take on Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura. As expected, it was a very fun match that led to the newcomers picking up the win. One of the biggest takeaways was the potential for a program involving Black and Nakamura.
With both men having a strong striking ability and the ability to knock your head off your shoulders, a couple months worth of matches between both men would be spectacular.
Judging from how the match ended last night, with Black turning a Kinshasa into Black Mass, they proved that they could put on some very fun matches together.
#4 – Andrade vs Mysterio Will Culminate at Wrestlemania
Speaking of rivalries, Andrade and Rey Mysterio‘s feud appears to be continuing. After Mysterio attacked Andrade from behind, both men challenged R-Truth for the United States Championship.
Following the Truth’s win after pinning Mysterio, it proved that both Luchador’s had a long way to go with one another.
Expect this rivalry to conclude at Wrestlemania in April in what could be the match of the night.
#3 – The Hardy Boyz Can Shake up the Tag Team Division
In one of the biggest surprises of the night, Matt Hardy returned to the ring on Smackdown Live to team up with his brother, Jeff Hardy. The Hardy Boys are reunited once again, and the blue brand’s tag-team division has gotten a very nice shake up.
The Hardy Boyz went on to defeat The Bar, and one has to wonder what is in store for the brothers heading into Wrestlemania. Might I suggest a Tag-Team Championship match with another set of brothers?
Just an idea.
#2 – Kevin Owens is a Much Needed Freshener
Kevin Owens is back.
Kevin Owens returned to Smackdown Live last night to replace Kofi Kingston in the WWE Championship match against Daniel Bryan at Fastlane. Some fans are upset about the replacement, but as I will get to next, this is the perfect set-up for Kofi.
Owens returned as a babyface, which needed to happen, and he brings something very new to the table. Owens is a much needed freshener for WWE that has been plagued by injuries for a while now. Whatever the plan is for the former Universal Champion is, it is very nice to see Kevin Owens back on WWE TV.
Now, speaking of Kofi…
#1 – This is Good for Kofi Kingston in the Long Run
Kofi Kingston will get his moment. He will get it soon. He will get it at Wrestlemania.
Vince McMahon and WWE have done a wonderful job at making Kofi Kingston feel like a true threat to the WWE title. Him being replaced by Owens at Fastlane just adds on to the story and the obstacles that Kofi Kingston has to go through to get what he deserves.
This is all good for Kofi in the long run of things, and expect him to be getting his long awaited title match on the biggest stage in professional wrestling: Wrestlemania.
Smackdown Live was a very fun episode to watch this week, and it can only get better as we move toward Wrestlemania.
