PWP nation’s Caden Moran details six things we learned from the February 11th, 2019 edition of Monday Night RAW
This is getting harder and harder as every week passes.
The February 11th edition of Monday Night RAW is in the books, and once again, it was not a fun episode. Until the final half hour, this weeks Monday Night RAW was hard to watch and almost put half of the PWP Nation team to sleep. However, there were at least two great moments that went down towards the end of the show.
We learned a few things during Monday Night RAW. Here are six things we learned from the February 11th, 2019 episode of Monday Night RAW.
#6 – RAW’s Women’s Tag Team Division is Good
As we creep closer to the Elimination Chamber event this Sunday, the women’s tag team division continues to be showcased. Last week, I was critical of Smackdown Live’s lack of tag teams to contend for the new Women’s Tag Team championships. However, the red brand’s division is just fine.
The teams of Sasha Banks & Bayley, Nia Jax & Tamina, and Liv Morgan & Sarah Logan continue to showcase the potential of women’s tag team wrestling. All three teams put on a decent match last night, and yes, even Nia & Tamina had good performances.
I fully expect a RAW tag team to claim the gold this weekend, and I believe that is the way it should be. RAW has the better tag teams in the women’s division and is not even close.
#5 – Drew McIntyre Deserves Better
Man…talk about losing momentum.
Drew McIntyre is one of WWE’s finest talents, in my opinion. However, for the past six months, he has become just another guy, much like Braun Strowman. He has continuously been in this endless loop of matches with guys like Strowman, Finn Balor, Bobby Lashley, and Baron Corbin. McIntyre should have been a strong contender for Brock Lesnar by now, but much like everybody else who was hot, he no longer is.
I have no doubt that McIntyre will be a marquee player post-Wrestlemania, but until then, he continues to lose steam and momentum. Drew McIntyre deserves much more than what he has gotten during the Wrestlemania season. I have no idea what the plans are for him in April, but I would not expect anything big to go down.
#4 – RAW Needs Kevin Owens More
Last night, we saw Kevin Owens cut a promo in a bowling alley, claiming he would be returning in a month. However, we do not know which brand the former WWE Universal Champion will be on. It should not be hard to think about which brand needs him more.
Smackdown Live has plenty of talent. They are fine. However, Monday Night RAW is dry on top name talent that it is possible we could see someone like Apollo Crews getting a push soon. No disrespect to Crews, but the lack of top guys on RAW is dreadful.
Monday Night RAW needs Kevin Owens more than the blue brand. He would be a nice refresher, and given he returns as a babyface, we could see something truly special on Monday night’s with Owens at the helm.
#3 – Seth Rollins Can Change Monday Night RAW
I believe in Seth Rollins.
“The Kingslayer” is easily the most important part of Monday Night RAW, not just right now, but for the future of the brand as a whole. Seth Rollins will go on to face Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania for the red belt, and I believe he has the power to turn Monday night’s around.
Monday Night RAW desperately needs it’s World Champion there every single week, and Seth is the one to do that. He is one of the very few babyfaces that are believable, and he has the power to make you truly care about him. Seth has claimed that RAW is “Monday Night Rollins”, and I expect that once Wrestlemania comes and goes, he will be representing that brand as the WWE Universal Champion.
#2 – The Revival’s Hard Work Finally Pays Off
Finally. The Revival are RAW Tag Team Champions.
It may have taken longer than expected, but Dash Wilder & Scott Dawson have finally reached the top of the mountain. In what was an incredible tag team match between the new champions and Bobby Roode & Chad Gable, Dash & Dawson claimed the gold after a very fun ending.
It took a couple of years, but after continuing to work their behinds off every week and every night, overcoming injuries and ridicule, The Revival’s hard worked has paid off. Now, WWE must continue this streak of The Revivial instead of just making them another set of champions.
Regardless of what happens, The Revival finally have their names in the WWE championship record books (excluding the NXT Tag Team titles).
#1 – The Inevitable Has Happened
Oh, man. What an ending to this week’s Monday Night RAW.
After the entire show was being built around Becky Lynchs’ decision to apologize or lose her match with Ronda Rousey, the closing moments of RAW defined how fun Wrestlemania season will be. Becky Lynch apologized for her actions over the past week and was granted her match with Rousey, until Vince McMahon came out, suspended Lynch until after Wrestlemania, and replaced her in the match. As of this moment, Ronda Rousey is set to face Charlotte Flair at Wrestlemania.
It was inevitable. Whether you want to accept it or not, Flair was always going to be involved with Rousey and Lynch. What was not expected, however, was the post-Wrestlemania suspension of Becky Lynch. Obviously, Lynch will find her way into the match once again, but it is a question of how and when.
Charlotte Flair making her way into the main event of Wrestlemania is not a bad thing. It makes the match more special, and it will help Becky Lynch out even more in the future. In the words of the Philadelphia 76ers, trust the process.
Monday Night RAW was not good, but it was not bad. The last hour made up for it. Wrestlemania season is here. Let’s enjoy the ride.
