Anthony Pettis has apparently reached out about stepping in for the injured Rafael dos Anjos to take on Conor McGregor in the main event at UFC 196.
Pettis tweeted the following just minutes ago:
I’m down to throw down!!! @dukeroufus@ufc@danawhite@lorenzofertitta

Ariel Helwani, whose been covering this story all morning, followed up with the following:
Just spoke to @malkikawa, @showtimepettis’ manager, and he said they have reached out to the UFC this AM. They want the McGregor fight, too.

Donald Cerrone, Nate Diaz, and Frankie Edgar have all been mentioned for the spot, although Helwani states Edgar would be unable to fight due to an undisclosed injury.
UFC has yet to make an announcement.
