UFC Fighter Mark Hunt stated this week that he believes Brock Lesnar, his opponent at UFC 200, is “juiced to the gills,” after the WWE Superstar was granted a drug testing exemption.
Normally four months notice is required for drug testing under the UFC’s Anti-Doping Policy rules, which is now governed by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). However, according to the rules an exemption may be given at the UFC’s discretion, “in exceptional circumstances or where the strict application of that rule would be manifestly unfair to an athlete.”
In the wake of this story, USADA actually did drug test Brock Lesnar on Thursday, June 9th. More notably, this test was unannounced, which is usually how USADA goes about administering their drug testing policy.
Additionally, it should be noted that USADA will continually be monitoring Lesnar, Hunt and all fighters as permitted by their policy. It’s very possible that Lesnar is tested again, unannounced.
