The former UFC Heavyweight Champion and WWE superstar returned in a big way on Saturday night after defeating heavyweight Mark Hunt, unanimously. Brock Lesnar walked away from UFC 200 a winner in more ways than one.
Brock Lesnar earned a reported $2.5 million for his appearance on the historic card. That figure is the highest guaranteed paycheck for any fighter in UFC history. Lesnar’s salary was first reported by Yahoo Sports’ Kevin Iole via the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
The record was previously held by UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor, who cashed in at UFC 196 against Nate Diaz for a reported $1 million dollar payday. Keep in mind that both McGregor’s and Lesnar’s figures for their respective cards do not include the additional payment from the post-sale pay-per-view buys, which both parties received a piece of.
After his fight with Hunt, many questions are being asked regarding Lesnar taking another fight in the UFC. When asked by a reporter, Lesnar stated:
“Brock Lesnar does what Brock Lesnar wants to do.”
As of right now, Lesnar will now move on to face Randy Orton at WWE SummerSlam in August, but did leave the future wide open for a possible return. Lesnar is currently under WWE contract through WrestleMania 33 of next year, so if Lesnar does indeed want to fight before then, it would have to be cleared by WWE CEO & Chairman Vince McMahon.
