In a strange turn of events, it looks like the John Cena Instagram post of CM Punk‘s Twitter AVI may have been a simple indication that Punk was being added to the WWE.com Alumni Page. (Click here to read the original story on Cena’s Instagram post.)
For over two years, CM Punk has been largely exorcised from WWE promotional material in a variety of ways. But now that WWE.com has relaunched a new, fresh site, they have added CM Punk to their illustrious alumni section.

There shouldn’t be much to think about when it comes to this considering that CM Punk is one of the most popular wrestlers in WWE history & one of the many functions of WWE’s website is to preserve the history of the business.
Tons of wrestlers who have supposed “heat” with WWE are listed in the alumni section including: Raven & Jim Cornette.
In all seriousness though, it shouldn’t surprise anyone if CM Punk comes back to WWE someday considering there is a multi-million dollar payday to be made…even though Punk claims it will never happen.
Only time will tell, but we shouldn’t think that his addition to the alumni section means anything more than WWE preserving their history.
