In what is a bizarre turn of events, WWE Smackdown Announcer Corey Graves attempted to deflect the heat he’s getting for his unprofessional shots at Mauro Ranallo to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer.
In case you missed it, please read our full breakdown of why Mauro Ranallo didn’t appear at Survivor Series
Graves called Meltzer a liar in the following tweet, which granted, Meltzer has pushed lies before, but this one….COME ON, COREY!
👋 @davemeltzerWON, you uninformed, false narrative pushing liar.

My phone works. You’re a “journalist,” right? You can find my number.
Dave Meltzer responded by basically pointing out what EVERYONE (outside of the Graves apologists) have been saying since we saw these tweets:
Now that we're on day three of this, you could at least apologize to Mauro, show a slight bit of remorse, take down the tweet, all of the above. When you mess someone up on your own team, don't think only about yourself first, second and last.

And what do you know? Graves attempted to deflect that back at Meltzer. Coooool.
My phone isn’t ringing, Dave. More content to continue your rumor-mongering I see.

There was no retraction from Graves. No public apology to Ranallo for the public blasting. Unless there is something that took place between the two that WE DON’T KNOW ABOUT, this entire situation comes off very unprofessional & juvenile.
Graves “deflection” didn’t stop there…as he also decided to publicly blast Bryan Alverez from The Wrestling Observer:
Are you the guy that is simultaneously a “wrestler” and a dirt sheet writer, yet doesn’t ACTUALLY grasp how this world works?

What professional work environment would allow their employees to negatively criticize a co-worker in a public forum like Twitter?
This entire thing is a bad look for Graves & WWE…especially by attempting to pass the heat to Meltzer & Alverez.
Although Michael Cole stated that Ranallo would be back for NXT on Wednesday Night, that remains uncertain.
