One of the greatest fighters in MMA history, Anderson Silva has saved the day!
It has been officially announced that Anderson “The Spider” Silva will be stepping in for Jon Jones to face off against Daniel Cormier at UFC 200. Cormier will face Silva in a non-title bout in the light heavyweight division Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena.
Cormier was supposed to defend his UFC light heavyweight title against interim champion Jon Jones in the UFC 200 main event, but Jones was pulled from the card Wednesday after failing a USADA out-of-competition drug test.
Speaking of Jones, Cormier asked UFC president Dana White if he could just sign a waiver and fight Jones anyway. Cormier was clearly and visibly shaken when he spoke to the press about not being able to fight Jones at UFC 200. At this time, the UFC will examine Jones’ situation further. It’s likely he’ll be suspended for an extended period of time.
