The speculation surrounding who will sign with All Elite Wrestling is already in full swing with rumors of Goldberg being tied to the promotion.
And by “being tied”, I mean he followed them on Twitter.
Yes, that’s all it seems to take in 2019 to get the ball rolling. Goldberg recently followed both the All Elite Wrestling Twitter account (@AEWrestling) & Double or Nothing (@ALL_IN_2018). With a reported $100,000,000 starting budget, it would be easy to afford Goldberg, who would likely require a high six-figure to seven-figure number to get involved with AEW.
Is this a smart use of important funds? I think it is.
Look, all indications point towards AEW pulling out all the stops for their upcoming promotion. A major, high-profile match is going to be necessary.
Don’t be shocked if Goldberg vs. Chris Jericho is something that is promoted by AEW in the future.
While the bread & butter of AEW needs to be what they’ve been doing with “Being The Elite” & “ALL IN”, a main event attraction is an important piece. Goldberg vs. Jericho will help sell advertising, get mainstream media outlets talking & could draw the attention of “casual” WWE viewers.
There are loads of networks out there that would be intrigued about having two mega stars like Goldberg & Jericho on their channel consistently. Both men have been on television in a variety of ways since the mid-1990s.
To me, trying to put this match together for the early history of All Elite Wrestling is a no-brainer.
Don’t be surprised if this is a route they decide to go in the future.
Or maybe this idea completely sucks & makes no sense.
