UFC president Dana White announced on ESPN’s SportsCenter on Monday night that the main event for UFC 205 has been inked.
Current UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor will challenge UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez for his title in New York City’s Madison Square Garden on November 12th, 2016, in a champion vs. champion super-fight.
The McGregor/Alvarez fight means the UFC’s first-ever card in New York City, following a decade long battle to have the sport legalized in New York State, now features three championship fights: McGregor-Alvarez; Tyron Woodley vs. Stephen Thompson for the UFC Welterweight Championship; and Joanna Jedrzejcyzk vs. Karolina Kowalkiewicz for the UFC Strawweight Championship.
