As you may have already heard, Chris Jericho has been announced as the replacement for Rusev in a Casket Match against The Undertaker on April 27th at Greatest Royal Rumble.
There has been a lot of speculation recently about Rusev’s status in the WWE. Rumors started a few days before WrestleMania that Rusev has requested his release. These rumors were also around a number of months ago. Suddenly, Rusev was added to the United States Championship Fatal Fourway at WrestleMania.
The chants of “Rusev Day!” were deafening over WrestleMania Weekend at all events. Not only were they prevalent all throughout WrestleMania, but they also infiltrated Bourbon Street as fans were chanting it all weekend!
During the opening segment of Smackdown Live on Hulu, chants of “Rusev Day” were switched to chants of “AJ Styles!” This is a clear indication that WWE is trying to slow down the chants.
TMZ caught up with Rusev & Lana. In this brief exchange, Rusev said that The Undertaker was “a little bit past his prime.”
Rusev also hasn’t been silent on Twitter about being booked against The Undertaker in a Casket Match & then being replaced.
On the announcement of of a Casket Match against The Undertaker, Rusev tweeted:
