With Conor McGregor now officially booked to rematch Nate Diaz at UFC 200, the two guys who’ve been campaigning to take on the current featherweight champion at least know their fates, too.

During Wednesday’s broadcast of UFC Tonight it was announced that Frankie Edgar and Jose Aldo — the top two challengers to McGregor’s 145-pound title — will meet on the same July 9 card for the interim featherweight belt.

It was reported that the winner would “at some point down the road” get the chance to unify the belt against McGregor, who will face Diaz for the second time at 170 pounds.

Though the UFC 200 milestone card is still in the process of being booked, it was reported that there will be “multiple title fights” taking place.

However, other fights that were made official for UFC 200 on Wednesday feature plenty of former champions.

Cain Velasquez will take on Travis Browne in a pivotal heavyweight bout, and former welterweight champion Johny Hendricks will meet Kelvin Gastelum.

Other bouts made official include a lightweight battle between fan favorites Joe Lauzon and Diego Sanchez, as well as a middleweight bout between Derek Brunson and Gegard Mousasi, and a lightweight fight between veterans Takanori Gomi and Jim Miller.

UFC 200 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena on July 9 in Las Vegas.

Been a wrestling fan for almost 30 years. I've seen Hulkamania, The New Generation, The NWO, the Attitude Era, and the PG Era, and I've enjoyed all of it in different ways. I still remember standing on the guardrail at ten years old and having it fall over in front of Razor Ramon. I was there live when The Undertaker abducted Stephanie McMahon, and I was there when The Rock surprised the entire TD Garden at a house show. Recently been getting into a lot of independent wrestling, especially in the Northeast. I follow WWE, NXT, TNA, ROH and NJPW, among others, but mainly only watch WWE/NXT religiously. I'll probably be more positive about WWE than you, and I'm OK with that.
