First reported by our friends at the Wrestling Soup Podcast, Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn were sent home immediately after yesterday’s Smackdown Live tapings in the UK.
The initial rumor was that they were not behaving well backstage. This was confirmed by Pro Wrestling Sheet who added the reason being “going into business for themselves.”
Apparently, at the conclusion of the Kofi Kingston vs. Sami Zayn contest, the real-life best friends were supposed to feed for New Day.
“Feeding” is when a heel takes numerous bumps in succession. This is a tactic used to get the live crowd fired up & excited for the babyfaces.
If you think for a second, you see “feeding” in just about every match.
The report by PWS also states that the duo hasn’t been the easiest to work with over the past few weeks and this may have something to do with two of their friends, Neville & Jimmy Jacobs, leaving the company.
The final decision to send Owens & Zayn home came from Vince McMahon himself according to the report.
Currenly, Owens & Zayn are not booked to compete at the Survivor Series Pay-Per-View on November 19th. There’s not telling on whether or not this will effect there status at the yearly blockbuster event.
