According to several live accounts, former NXT Champion Aleister Black was injured this past weekend in Las Vegas in a match with current NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa.
It’s said that Black was “crotched” at some point during the match and that is when the injury occurred. While the exact injury is not known at this time, the injury is severe enough that it required surgery this past week.
Black’s status for NXT Takeover is up in the air at this time.
There are conflicting reports as to how severe the injury was and the recovery time required. Black is scheduled to challenge Ciampa in a triple threat match along with Johnny Gargano at the event. This is no word yet if WWE has a secondary plan in place just in case Black can’t compete.
