PWP Nation’s John “JCD” Dimiceli explains why he believes Chyna will never see the inside of the WWE Hall of Fame, even after her untimely death.
By now we all know the news and some details about the untimely and tragic passing of Joanie “Chyna” Laurer. We have seen tributes from numerous personalities from the world of professional wrestling. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon have headed up tributes from the WWE, while others like Mick Foley, The Rock and many other WWE superstars continue to shares stories and memories of Chyna.
As of this writing, it’s Sunday, so Raw will have yet to take place.
If it was up to me, I would do a graphic to start the show, and do a narrated video package at some point during the show. I do not expect an all talent on the stage 10 bell salute, as well as I do not expect a network special. A DVD is touchy as it could go down a real dark and uncomfortable road.
There is no doubt what her career meant.
From 1997-2001, at the peak of the Attitude Era, she was a standalone, ground breaking star, who was indeed larger than life, for sure. She kicked down so many barriers and broke down doors for so many female athletes we see today.
Chyna was the first woman to enter the Royal Rumble and the King of the Ring, was the number one contender for the WWF Championship at one point in time, and won the Intercontinental Championship, fighting heavy politics backstage. She competed with men and held her own with ease. She also held the Women’s Championship in 2001, before departing from the company. From an in-ring perspective, her career definitely defines a first ballot Hall of Famer.
But there’s something standing in the way…
We all know the story of the behind the scenes drama. She was 100% done wrong by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Vince McMahon was in a hard spot, as Vince was a huge fan of Chyna, but had to protect his daughter even if he didn’t agree with the situation. The situation to me does not discourage Chyna’s chances at the WWE Hall of Fame.
We also know her struggles with depression, drugs and alcohol. When she was at a low-point in her life, she ventured into the adult film industry. We know about her up and down relationship with Sean “X-Pac” Waltman and all that entailed. There have been plenty of Superstars and Hall of Famers who have had demons and made bad choices. But unlike popular belief, I don’t think this will be the reason Chyna isn’t inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
To me, the following two reasons are why no matter what, she will never see the WWE Hall of Fame
First off, one of her adult films was called “Queen of the Ring.” In the video several current and past WWE personalities are portrayed. However, the most damning are Vince McMahon, Triple H, and Stephanie McMahon are portrayed in the film. There is even a scene in which Vince, Chyna, and Stephanie are all involved with each other. This is the first reason as to why Chyna will NOT get into the Hall of Fame, ever.
The second reason is her accusation of physical assault against Triple H. A story that not only changed a few times, but from Chyna herself was admitted to being false. Her presence at Roddy Piper‘s funeral was questionable to say the least and these moments will definitely not help her case.
This is 100% my opinion. I am not trying to slam somebody after they have passed. I just feel that since her passing, a lot of people have victimized Chyna and bastardized WWE, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. I just feel facts are more important than emotion and we need to look at this entire situation fairly.

100% agree with this. There’s two sides of every story and Chyna made a lot of poor decisions that cannot and should not be blamed on WWE or the McMahon family.
That victimisation was always going to happen no matter the cause of death I’m just surprised it happened to the extent where people are openly blaming someone she has had little to no contact with in near of a decade.
Thank you for bringing this to the forefront. I want to see Chyna honoured for her contributions just as much as anybody else and it’s a shame to know she passed away but she did make a lot of bad moves against WWE and the McMahon’s where it is understandable why they didn’t want to affiliate themselves with her before her death.
WWE are in a no win situation and that isn’t a surprise…mainly because fanatical individuals will get on their case no matter what they do.
