According to NBC Connecticut, new President-Elect Donald J. Trump‘s transition team is eyeing former WWE CEO Linda McMahon for a cabinet position as the Secretary of Commerce. NBC Connecticut confirmed with both a source close to the McMahon family and the Trump transition team.
The job as Secretary is concerned with promoting American businesses and industries; the Department states its mission to be “to foster, promote, and develop the foreign and domestic commerce.”
In this recent election cycle, it’s reported that the McMahons donated roughly $4 million dollars to the Trump campaign. Due to the divisiveness of the election, the WWE made the corporate decision to not mention anything about it either on television or social media, even though Trump had performed for the company in high-profile roles in the past and had been put into the company’s Hall of Fame. The only member of the McMahon family to comment was Linda, who called Trump her friend, but Linda hasn’t worked for the company in many years.
