As reported through a variety of sources around the internet, current Global Force Wrestling star Low Ki is set to make his exit from the company. Low Ki had been previously scheduled to face GFW World Heavyweight Champion, Alberto El Patron at GFW “Destination X”. However, with El Patron being suspended and stripped of the championship due to an ongoing domestic violence investigation, that match was cancelled.
Low Ki is currently under GFW contract through October, but has requested for his released from the organization. A couple of reasons have been thrown out there as to why Low Ki is leaving the company. The first reason is said to be due to creative differences. A key issue is GFW saw Low Ki as their headlining X-Division star, whilst Low Ki saw himself in main event contention.
This would be the fourth time that Low Ki has exited the company in the last ten years. He has held the X-Division championship on five occasions and is also a former Tag Team Champion three times. He wrestled for GFW/TNA between 2002-2004 before leaving the company for Ring of Honor. He returned in 2006 to wrestle as the character “Senshi”.
He would remain under this gimmick for two years before departing the company for greener pastures. In recent years, he returned to the company from 2011-2013, then sporadic appearances through 2015, before officially leaving the company in 2015 after his stint as a member of Beat Down Clan (B.D.C.). During his current run with GWF, he captured the X-Division championship for the fifth time, then lost the title to current champion, Sonjay Dutt.
