Lucha Underground is quickly becoming one of the hottest promotions in the wrestling world, but recently a source close to the promotion revealed that apparently after two seasons, LU has lost slightly less than half of what TNA lost after 10 years in business, according to the Wrestling Observer.
Lucha Undeground did just recently get renewed for a third season, but it’s being said that for a fourth season to happen, the product would have to raise a lot of money to keep it going. The company reportedly has enough capital for third season of TV tapings through mid-May. After the May tapings, LU producers plan on having all TV tapings done and will air through summer 2017.
Reportedly, per episode, it costs Lucha Underground around $600,000 to produce the finished product because of the high production value and sadly, the promotion just isn’t making that capital back. On the brighter side, there are talks of producing a Lucha Underground movie that will reportedly air in 2018, but that idea is still in development.
