Leading into UFC 200, many speculated on who would replace Jon Jones in his fight with Daniel Cormier. Ultimately, it was Anderson Silva, but reportedly Dan Henderson was also in the mix.
On Wednesday, UFC president Dana White said he had other plans for the 45-year old. It turns out he’ll be Michael Bisping‘s next opponent to challenge for the UFC Middleweight Championship.
White told the press:
“We’re going to do Dan Henderson versus Michael Bisping. It’s a fight that the champ wants. It’s a fight that the fans want. And hopefully in Manchester. We’re thinking about doing it in Manchester, England. But that’s not signed yet.”
Bisping defeated Luke Rockhold on a little more than a week’s notice at that same UFC 199 card in Los Angeles. Bisping and Henderson have a long standing rivalry dating back to UFC 100. Bisping lost to Henderson via second-round knockout, which is now recognized as one of the most memorable knockouts in UFC history. Dan Henderson last fought at UFC 199, when he knocked out Hector Lombard.
