Earlier today, WWE announced the release of Emma, Darren Young and Summer Rae. The releases caught many by surprise, but it seems that WWE is going through their annual roster decisions and sadly, more could be on the way.
However after news broke, NXT Superstar Lio Rush made a joke referring to Emma losing to Asuka twice in a row and implying that was the reason she was released.
Here’s what he said:
“I guess these are the things that happen when you’re not truly ready for Asuka.”
The tweet has since been deleted.
In response, several past and present wrestlers commented on the joke including Sean “X-PAC” Waltman, Bray Wyatt, Peyton Royce and even Asuka herself.
Here are some of the responses:
Wow, kid. Didn’t you just get here? Professionalism goes a long way.

You aint gonna make it here with the wolves, kid.

After receiving such backlash, Rush responded with a lengthy apology:

At this time, there is no word on if Rush will be punished or even lose his job.
