In some huge Monday Morning news, Triple H has been named the Head of WWE Creative. This is monumental, as Vince McMahon has always been the guy who approved all creative ideas. Bruce Prichard had taken on this role temporarily, as well as a role in Talent Relations.
While we had other commitments and could not be on top of this story over the weekend, WWE has shaken their internal management structure to the core, brother.
Vince McMahon announced his retirement this past Friday just as the stock trading day came to an end. At the time of this writing, WWE stock is up 6%. This bodes well for the early reaction to Vince’s retirement. And while we are talking about Vince, I would like to issue a HUGE THANK YOU to him for WWE. If it wasn’t for Vince McMahon, there would be NO WWE right now.
We did report a number of weeks ago that McMahon was facing some serious uncertainty about his role moving forward with WWE due to allegations of past ‘sexual misconduct.’ The allegations were started by a leak within the company that exposed McMahon for paying millions of dollars to women in ‘hush money’ to not speak publicly about alleged affairs. You can read the article to refresh your memory here.
Vince was forced to step aside ‘temporarily’ as CEO, while Stephanie McMahon stepped in to take his place. Shortly thereafter, John Laurinaitis, who is also tied into the ‘sexual misconduct’ allegations, was sent home from his role as Executive Vice President of Talent Relations. He was temporarily replaced by Bruce Prichard.
This past week, WWE announced that Triple H would be stepping in as Executive Vice President of Talent Relations, the job that he held before the cardiac event that he suffered last year. Shortly thereafter, Vince McMahon announced his retirement.
Stephanie will split CEO duties with Nick Khan, who is the Executive Vice President of WWE. Triple H now fully takes over as Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and Head of Creative. There is no telling where Bruce Prichard and other Vince McMahon cronies fall into this new corporate structuring.
Here is the statement from WWE.com:
