PWP Nation Editor-in-Chief Caden Moran debuts his new article series “Personal Opinions” discussing the recent online feud between Seth Rollins and Will Ospreay

A wise man once said, “be loyal to those who are loyal to you. And respect everyone, even your enemies and competition.”

Over the last few days across the wonderful social media app known as Twitter, there has been an online feud taking place. After the WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins praised the Cruiserweight title match at Stomping Grounds on Twitter, “The Beastslayer” was met with criticism from fans and the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay.

Rollins’ tweet sparked a ton of discussion among the wrestling community, most of it was very aggressive and very uncivil. There’s nothing new about that.

With the lack of quality content that WWE supplies, many independent wrestlers like Ospreay feel that the companies they are a part of are better. Not only that, judging from Ospreay’s responses to Rollins, it’s obvious “The Aerial Assassin” feels that he is better than the top guy in WWE.

At the end of the day, it’s all subjective. There is no way to judge who is the better wrestler, performer or act because it is all based on opinion.

However, when it comes to the land of professional wrestling, there is nobody bigger or more important than WWE.

Sure, their product might not be the best at the moment, but the last few weeks of Raw and Smackdown Live, along with the well put together Stomping Grounds event, WWE still proves that when done right, they are the best at what they do.

My personal opinion on this situation is quite simple: Seth Rollins is right.

As I mentioned before, it is all subjective at the end of the day. However, when I think of the word wrestling, I think WWE. When I think of the word champion, I think Seth Rollins.

I don’t have an issue with Will Ospreay thinking he’s better than Rollins and vice-versa. My issue with this whole situation lies with the fans and figures in the wrestling industry that have made it worse.

From Dave Meltzer, Bryan Alvarez, JD From NY to many others, their bias against WWE has turned this situation into some friendly banter and competition into something more than what it is. The worst part about all of it is their hardcore followers and fans have decided to feel the same way.

I saw a tweet that was in response to Seth’s declaration that listed Ospreay’s “instant classics” of 2019 compared to that of Rollins. They listed at least 20 matches for Will. Do you know how many they listed for Seth?

Zero.

The bias against not just Rollins but WWE is a whole is becoming more and more ridiculous. You can have your opinion, but when that opinion becomes blatantly obvious that you have a bias, there’s a problem.

I love all wrestling. I love WWE. I love New Japan. I love Ring of Honor and I’m sure I’ll love All Elite Wrestling. There is no room for divide and bias in the world of professional wrestling.

Competition is healthy, but all-out hatred for a company that doesn’t cater to your every desire is not.

To sum this all up, Seth Rollins is a leader, and he is backing the company that has given him so much. Seth is admirable and the same could be said for Ospreay, who refuses to go down the traditional WWE route. Will is making his own legacy while Seth writes his name in the history books of the biggest wrestling company in the world.

Both men are tremendous athletes and maybe we will see them go at it in a ring one day. But, with Ospreay continuing to burn bridges, it’s hard to imagine that will actually happen.

Only time will tell.
