According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, the original plan for WrestleMania was NOT a Six-Way Match with Bayley defending the Smackdown Women’s Championship against multiple competitors.
The original plan called for the friendship of Bayley and Sasha Banks to explode on The Grandest Stage in a singles match.
Vince McMahon was original all for the idea of a singles match between the two friends, but with the limited time to build the match up, the plans were changed.
This match should instead be the start of their feud.
SPECULATION: My take is that Sasha Banks should win this match and ultimately become the Smackdown Women’s Champion without pinning Bayley. This will end Bayley’s phenomenal run at the top of the division and lead to an easy storyline between the two.
