Tonight at Survivor Series, NXT play-by-play announcer Mauro Ranallo has been conspicuous by his absence after his phenomenal performance at NXT Takeover: WarGames on Saturday Night.
While rumors were swirling on why Ranallo wasn’t at the announce desk, Bryan Alverez of The Wrestling Observer tweeted the following:
If you somehow haven't heard, Mauro Ranallo won't be doing the show tonight as a result of Corey Graves' tweet. #SurvivorSeries

The tweets in question came from WWE Smackdown Announcer Corey Graves during NXT TakeOver: WarGames. He publicly criticized his co-worker with the following tweets, which have also apparently led to Mauro Ranallo deactivating his Twitter account:
Just for the record guys, I know you wouldn’t know it, but there’s actually a WWE Hall of Famer AND a former Ring of Honor Champion on commentary.
— Corey Graves (@WWEGraves) November 24, 2019
I’d imagine they have a lot to offer.
🤷♂️#NXTTakeoverWarGames
Far, far too many.

While it’s quite obvious why Ranallo is absent from Survivor Series, Michael Cole explained his absence by stating that Mauro “blew his voice out” at NXT TakeOver: WarGames.
Cole stated that Ranallo will be back at the desk this Wednesday Night for NXT on the USA Network, but it will be interesting to see if Graves issues any kind of public apology to Ranallo.
Mauro’s good friend, MMA legend Frank Shamrock, publicly came to his defense by quoting a recent tweet by Graves, as can be seen below:

That should be a clear indication of why Ranallo is absent, as reported by Alverez. In most industries, publicly criticizing a co-worker would be a punishable offense. We’ll have to wait and see how this plays out.
