As many wrestling fans are aware, New Japan Pro-Wrestling put on their biggest show of the year this week at the famous Tokyo Dome in Japan for Wrestle Kingdom 12. The event by most accounts was a tremendous success and saw fans from all over the world travel to see the event live.
Now that the show is in the history books, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s streaming service “New Japan World” was the biggest success story to come out of the January 4th event. Meltzer claims that New Japan World drastically increased their subscriber base, reportedly going from around 70,000 subscribers to finishing with 95,000 after the final numbers came in.
The report states that New Japan Pro-Wrestling officials are thrilled about this number and see it as a why to continue to grow their brand globally. NJPW believes that the uptick in subscriber numbers has a lot to do with the addition of the Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega match.
