Two weeks ago on WWE Monday Night Raw, the commentary team of Michael Cole, Corey Graves and Booker T stated that one half of the WWE Tag Team Champions Sheamus was in Ireland on his annual trip to his home country and that was why he wasn’t on the show.
But according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Sheamus has been dealing with spinal stenosis and is in the process of rehabbing. For those who are unaware, spinal stenosis is the injury that forced WWE Hall of Famers Edge and ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin to retire and could be a possible career ending injury for the Celtic Warrior.
There is no concrete word on if Sheamus’ condition is as serious or if he is considering retirement, but it should be noted that WWE has attempted to keep this news quiet, which could be a bad sign. Sheamus did perform on Raw this past week and it’s being said that he’s been working with the injury. We’ll obviously be able to tell how serious this is based on the next few weeks of television.
