According to the Wrestling Observer, Sasha Banks was originally penciled in to leave WrestleMania 32 as the new WWE Women’s Champion until the decision was made to have a Triple Threat Match with Becky Lynch instead of just Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte in a one-on-one match.
WWE felt like having Sasha Banks or Charlotte take a pin at their biggest show of the year wasn’t the best way to handle the newly branded division, which is why Lynch was added to the match.
Right now, Natalya is now the top contender for the Women’s Championship. Many are puzzled by the move, but it’s being said that Nattie was added to the title picture to help build Charlotte up as a dominate champion. WWE have eventual plans to place the Women’s Championship on Sasha Banks by or at SummerSlam later this year. Obviously, take this report with a grain of salt, as plans can change.
