In an interview with the Orlando Sentinel, which you can access in full by clicking here, Roman Reigns discussed a variety of topics including his cousin The Rock and a possible showdown at WrestleMania.
Question: Your cousin The Rock is going to be a part of this year’s WrestleMania. Do you think the two of you will ever have a match?
Answer: “I don’t know. That depends on what goes down in Dallas I would think. You have to tune in…check it out.”
Question: Do you want a match with him?
Answer: “He’s The Rock. He’s the biggest movie star and biggest name in Hollywood right now. Why wouldn’t I want to punch that in the face a couple of times?”
Roman is either clearly planting a seed for a possible confrontation with The Rock at WrestleMania or he is just being coy and playing along with the question.
The role of The Rock at this year’s WrestleMania is as unclear as it ever has been. Aside from an announcement on social media & a surprise appearance on Raw, he hasn’t even discussed what his role will be. This is an interesting intangible.
If WWE is truly planning on moving Roman Reigns into a heel position (I discussed a scenario for a Reigns heel turn at this link) they should consider having him turn on his real life cousin, The Rock.
RAW THOUGHTS:
1. The most telling thing of RAW – and why he will never be over or the face of the company? – they didn’t let Joey Anoa’i anywhere near a mic. Bad sign when he is the challenger, less than a week from Mania, and you don’t even let him talk.
2. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that Mania gets less than 1 million PPV buy rates – because this Mania is HORRIBLY booked. And no using the Network as an excuse.
3. When Shane jumped off the ring and landed on the table – he missed Calaway by a mile. LMAO.
I just think the whole thing of an Anoa’i/Johnson feud sounds dumb and boring.
