Earlier today, Dave Meltzer reported that plans called for John Cena to head into the Royal Rumble to face Alberto Del Rio for the United States Championship.
However, plans have changed accordingly and Del Rio will face a new challenger at the Royal Rumble. We don’t post spoilers here, but you will have a good indication of who the next challenger will be by what takes place on tonights Smackdown debut on the USA Network. WWE knew of Cena’s injury before the Smackdown tapings this past Tuesday night at planned accordingly.
No word on whether Cena was going to regain the United States Championship or not. We noted previously that John Cena will be out 6-9 months after undergoing surgery on his rotator cuff.
