Earlier this week, we reported that former WWE World Champion Alberto Del Rio would not be re-signing with WWE and will opt out of his contract. Additionally, WWE pulled Del Rio from all house shows, live events and TV advertising for the rest of the year.
With Del Rio getting ready to him the free agent wire, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, several promotions are interested in the services of one Alberto Del Rio.
The Observer reports that the AAA (which also owns Lucha Underground) and TNA Impact Wrestling are the most interested in the former World Champion.
Despite leaving AAA on bad terms, the report states that the company is still interested in bringing him back. Del Rio had kept the secret he signed with the WWE from AAA and never lost the title, which he was holding while under WWE contract. He was a big draw for that promotion, and they seem desperate enough to bring him on board once again, considering that AAA’s business has gone down in 2016.
Impact Wrestling, which is under new leadership with Billy Corgan, is reportedly very interested in bringing Del Rio in. TNA did pursue him last year, but plans just fell threw as Del Rio decided to return to the WWE. The Observer is reporting that TNA plans to guarantee him a spot as a top guy within the promotion.
Dave Meltzer mentions that New Japan Pro-Wrestling might be interested, but Del Rio will most likely decline an offer from them due to the travel and style of wrestling.
At this time, it’s unclear where Del Rio land.
