As we’ve reported, WWE has booked Shinsuke Nakarmua to take on Sami Zayn at the highly anticipated NXT Takeover: Dallas show, two nights before WrestleMania 32. This week, various sources including The Wrestling Observer, MLW Radio, PWInsider & Tokyo Sports in Japan have been following Nakamura’s arrival in the United States.
The word on the street is that Nakamura landed in the United States on Tuesday, in New York, and was met by longtime WWE veteran Funaki. Funaki has been given that task of helping Nakamura transition to the WWE; much like he did when Hideo Itami arrived from Japan.
Yesterday, Nakamura went to Pittsburgh, PA to undergo his physical testing & will likely report to the Performance Center in Orlando at some point in the next few days.
The latest report from The Wrestling Observer is that WWE has major main roster plans for Nakamura, but will likely give him some time in NXT so the WWE audience can get accustomed to him & his style. WWE may have also made a play to acquire Nakamura’s theme music “Subconscious”, but either decided not to or were not able to.
While it is likely that Nakamura keeps his name in NXT, there is always the possibility that he switches to a WWE licensed “original” name when he moves up to the main roster. Also, Tokyo Sports noted that Shinsuke has a three year deal with WWE, meaning that they are looking to invest some serious time into the Japanese Superstar.
Either way, the anticipation of Shinsuke Nakamura coming to WWE continues to build and wrestling fans all over the world are excited for his first match against Sami Zayn at NXT Takeover: Dallas.
