Earlier this year, we reported that WWE were in preliminary talks about putting together a Cruiserweight Classic type tournament, featuring women from around the world.
In an update by PWInsider.com, WWE is now in full swing with this idea and it’s internally being called the “Women’s Classic.” At this time, the plans are to begin taping the first round matches in early 2017 and many talents that have been seen at WWE tryouts in the last few months have been told to report to the WWE Performance Center in the first week of January.
Among those talents are former Chikara Grand champion Kimber Lee, Heidi Lovelace, Nixon Newell and Evie. Additionally, Deonna Purrazzo and Rachel Ellering are reportedly being considered for spots in the tournament as well. All of these talents are being considered and have not actually secured spots in the tournament.
