Since last week, fans and others have been speculating on the status of Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder and their relationship with WWE.
On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided an update on their situation.
The report cites that The Revival asked for their WWE release after being frustrated with their position in the company and the way they’ve been booked, as well as the handling of the tag team division as a whole.
Meltzer also cites that Dawson and Wilder were also upset that the RAW Tag Champions, Bobby Roode and Chad Gable, weren’t even featured on the show that week.
It was reported by several outlets that The Revival and WWE officials were seen arguing after returning through the curtain from their win over Lucha House Party last week on RAW. This is said to be the interaction where they asked to be released.
After these reports broke, many believed that The Revival would be on their way out of WWE, with either the company granting them their release or waiting on their contracts to expire.
But in an update, Meltzer cited that their contracts do not expire until 2020, so if WWE doesn’t grant them a release, we could see a similar situation to what happened to Neville (aka PAC) not too long ago, where he just waited for his contract to expire.
It should be noted that several reports indicated that WWE is very interested in fixing this relationship and would like to keep The Revival past their contracts. The report also stated that The Revival were on the live event loop this past weekend, replacing the injured Authors of Pain.
In addition to this news, Meltzer also spoke about the trademark that was filed for “#FTR.” Meltzer claims that the trademark was filed by Dawson and Wilder on January 1st, 2019.
