Sunday night at WWE SummerSlam during his match with Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton was busted open by a straight elbow to the forehead from the Beast Incarnate, which resulted in the match being stopped and Lesnar being awarded the victory due to a TKO (referee stoppage).
WWE.com released this statement on Orton’s condition:
“WWE.com has learned that Randy Orton has received 10 staples to close a laceration on his forehead following the brutal assault by Brock Lesnar that resulted in a TKO at SummerSlam.”
At this time, it’s still unclear whether or not this spot was planned or if Lesnar mistakenly cut Orton open. We’ll have more on this story as the details become known.
