8-year-old, Rocco Lanzer received what was presumably the most devastating news of his life in January when he was diagnosed with Leukemia, but today he was finally able to meet his hero, John Cena. Lanzer meeting Cena on NBC’s Today Show marked the 500th wish the WWE United States Champion has granted. Cena attempted to visit Lanzer in the hospital a few months ago, but he was too sick to have visitors.
Cena commented:
“A lot of times when people donate time or resources, there’s a little speculation about where it goes. I’m at the finish line. I get to see the families; I get to see the joy and the hope that we bring. I’ll continue to be involved with Make-A-Wish as long as they’ll have me.”
There is an event scheduled at Dave & Buster’s Time Square in New York City on Friday to celebrate Cena’s 500th wish featuring Cena, Stephanie McMahon, Sheamus and The Bella Twins.
