At this time, WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon has been dealing with third quarter earnings conference calls. During a recent call, McMahon was asked if he would be open to the idea of selling the company if an offer good enough came along.
McMahon stated that he’d be open to the idea of possibly selling the company, but did stress that the future of the company is very important to him. He added that they are business people and the company is always fielding offers, especially ones that are “too good to refuse.”
Additionally, when McMahon was asked if he would be open to selling the company, but still being in control of the company’s direction, he replied, “we’re open for business.”
For the last few years, there has been rumors of McMahon possibly selling away the company and calling it quits, as questions have emerged on WWE’s revenue and reports of the chairman being “out of touch” with the current fanbase. A source tells PWP Nation that McMahon has been courted with top notch offers, but has turned them down.
Many believe that once McMahon is ready to step away, he might remain in control of the company, but leave the day-to-day operations to his daughter and son in-law, Stephanie McMahon and Paul “Triple H” Levesque. Others have stated that it’s possible that McMahon flat out sells the company. Obviously, nothing stated above is concrete. Things change all the time, especially in WWE with Vince McMahon in charge.
