Over the last few weeks, there has been a ton of speculation as to why WWE Superstar Baron Corbin went from being Mr. Money In The Bank, to be shuffled into the mid-card.
As we reported earlier this month, Corbin was being punished for several things including his interactions on Twitter and a backstage altercation with WWE medical doctor and concussion expert Dr. Joseph Maroon. According to a report via the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Corbin got into a heated exchange with Dr. Maroon about CTE and concussions, when Dr. Maroon was brought into talk to all talent about the issue in an open locker room discussion. The exchange, according to sources in the room, was said to be very “awkward” and “uncomfortable,” as many in the room felt like Corbin should’ve aired his thoughts in private to Dr. Maroon.
Also, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE has now learned that Baron Corbin is involved in a large-scale lawsuit against the National Football League. For those who don’t know, Corbin played in the NFL for both the Indianapolis Colts and Arizona Cardinals as an offensive linemen. The company sees this lawsuit as a problem, as WWE is currently in a lawsuit for the same issue against dozens of former wrestlers.
At this time, it’s unclear how much all these backstage incidents will effect Corbin’s career going forward.
