Unlike The New Day, who are heels that are cheered because of their entertaining antics, Chris Jericho reverted back to his 2008-2010 days as a heel tonight. Jericho spent several minutes shunning the Canadian fans for liking AJ Styles and other “flavors of the month” over him.
Also, for the first time in his career, renouncing Canada as his home country to an outpouring of boos from the crowd. The only thing the Canadian crowd didn’t boo is when Jericho reminded them that Swagger beat Jericho for the Big Gold Belt six years ago. Congratulations, Swagger, the fans don’t care about you.
Jericho’s match with Jack Swagger was merely secondary as it was nothing special. The match was just used to build up Jericho for a future match between him and Styles.
Jericho is a master of the microphone as he can get people to love or hate him, which is rare on the main roster these days. When Jericho leaves again, we’re going to miss him because there are VERY few to get us to hate them like he does.
