For the first time in 16 years, the UFC is set to return to Miami with Yoel Romero vs. Paulo Costa set for a five-round middleweight clash.
According to Combate.com, the UFC is putting plans in place to pit Yoel Romero (13-3 MMA, 9-2 UFC) against Paulo Costa (12-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) to serve the main event for UFC on ESPN 3. The event is scheduled to go down in Miami, FL at the American Airlines Arena.
This will be the third attempt to book the fight, as Romero and Costa were originally scheduled to face off UFC 230 last November before Romero withdrew from the bout due to injury. Then, the fight was rescheduled for last Saturday’s UFC on ESPN+ 1 event, but then Romero pulled out of the fight due to injury.
Romero will be looking to remain in the top mix at middleweight after he lost his last fight to current middleweight champion Robert Whittaker via split decision last June. Meanwhile, Costa will enter the fight with his undefeated record intact, which includes UFC victories over former welterweight champion Johny Hendricks and most recently Uriah Hall.
